        In the sixth dimension of BIM,<\/strong> the behavior of the building is considered from the beginning of the project: fuel type, lighting, materials to be used<\/strong><\/a>, depending on the situation, orientation and other aspects.<\/p>\n

        The cradle to cradle would be part of the sixth dimension, which refers to the sustainability of the cycle. In 2002, William McDonough, architect, and Michael Braungart, chemist, publish the book Cradle to Cradle = from cradle to cradle: redesigning the way we do things.<\/p>\n

        The basis of environmentalism has been to reduce consumption, reuse materials and, finally, recycle them. In his book, McDonough and Braungart speak of cradle to cradle<\/strong> a concept that goes beyond, because this concept only causes to slow the effect of the materials on the environment. How to solve this problem?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

        The idea of cradle to cradle is to think about the entire life cycle of the building<\/strong> but also that of materials, as these should not only be recycled but should be designed with the future in mind, throughout their life cycle.<\/p>\n

        In this way, the BIM gets a building that saves energy, but also that helps us to maintain in the long run, more efficiently and with the cradle to cradle is to think about the present and the future of the building<\/strong> – and its materials – when it has completed its “main” life cycle. According to McDonough: “You have to redesign things thinking about the present and future use of materials.” If we raise it in a building, the choice and manufacture of the materials should be made according to criteria of social responsibility with the environment.<\/p>\n

        In their work, they speak of buildings that are totally sustainable, that is, find materials that do not contain harmful chemical agents and that are able to be used to create “walls at once solid, light” but also insulate.<\/p>\n
