The growing demand for sustainability in construction can only be satisfied by an off-site system – the assembly of a pre-manufactured building at its final destination – that is adaptable to every situation and weather, easy to assemble and with no need for special machinery.<\/p>\n

Nowadays more than ever, the construction sector is being called upon to undergo a far-reaching restructuring to reduce emissions of CO2, for which measurable processes are required.<\/p>\n

NIBUG is the indispensable methodology for achieving this.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAn idea come true<\/h2>\n

In 1995 <\/strong>we were visiting Pompeii (Naples, Italy) and we realize that 2000 years before, the urbanisation was better than now.  Back then we were involved in the urbanisation of 120.000 metres squared in a construction in front of the sea.<\/p>\n

Since then we started to investigate how we can be more rational in the construction and the urbanisation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Build without disturbing ants<\/h3>\n

In 2002, we created MEBSS (Modular, Ecological Bioclimatic and Sustainable Spaces). Our aim was to be able to build and develop \u201cwithout bugging the ants\u201d, an article that appeared in appeared in the Avui daily newspaper in June 2003.<\/p>\n

In October 2003, we presented a building at the Barcelona Meeting Point. We assembled a 90-square-metre house in nine days<\/strong> on a trade fair premises.<\/p>\n

The fact that the real estate sector was booming in our country at the time made it very difficult to market the system. We began to promote detached houses using the MEBSS<\/strong> system.<\/p>\n

The MEBSS<\/strong> system continued to evolve and we eventually decided to industrialise it. We patented the fa\u00e7ade enclosure system<\/strong> using a common structure for the inside and outside surface.<\/p>\n

In 2005, we obtained certification from the ITEC (Institut de Tecnologia de l\u2019Edificaci\u00f3 de Catalunya) evaluating the energy consumption of the MEBSS<\/strong> construction system. According to this report, the system delivered energy savings of 32.8%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2008, MEBSS Evolution<\/strong> transferred its know-how to Nibug 21, S.L. (the current owner of NIBUG)<\/strong> for it to develop an off-site construction system to be able to participate in calls for tenders for the building of modular schools promoted by GISA (the Autonomous Government of Catalonia)<\/p>\n

In 2009, we signed an agreement with a construction company belonging to one of the largest business groups in Spain. We manufactured a 120 m\u00b2 prototype <\/strong>similar to the standard model of a school promoted and built by GISA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2010, GISA confirmed that they accepted our system.<\/strong> We entered 5 calls for tenders and were short-listed in 3 of them. For \u201cbureaucratic\u201d reasons, our projects were not accepted.<\/p>\n

After several discussions with the collaborators, we decided to apply, on our own account, all our know-how to a BIM software<\/strong> to be able to manage the processes.<\/p>\n

Award to innovation<\/h3>\n

By the end of 2011, NIBUG existed as a building method<\/strong> based on an off-site construction system, managed with Bentley Architecture.<\/p>\n

In 2014, NIBUG received the PREMIO Modalidad Innovaci\u00f3n y dise\u00f1o for ID 33 Be NIBUG S.L<\/strong> for its innovation through being able to turn the classic building world operating system on its head, bringing in social, participation and global-scale aspects, thus promoting a cyclical and non-linear process. The jury considered that it truly was an innovation in its conception of the building world.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2015, NIBUG struck up an alliance with <\/strong>CT Ingenieros<\/a> with a view to implementing their expertise in the planning of elements and systems in the automotive, railway, aviation and naval sectors in the modular design of architectural structures.<\/p>\n

Is possible to guarantee the building and maintenance of a hospital anywhere in the world?<\/h3>\n

In 2016, NIBUG, Mario Corea Arq. and CT Ingenieros have joined forces in a single mission: to design, manufacture and assemble industrialized hospitals in situ that quickly deliver a sustainable and self-sufficient healthcare service in sparsely populated, highly disperse or difficult-to-access areas with scant economic and\/or technological resources.<\/p>\n

During 2017, the architectural project of HBS, made by Mario Corea Arquitectos, has been published in the Anuario 2017 of AADAIH.<\/p>\n

In 2018 we took part in IHDB Summit 2018 (India Hospital Design & Build Summit 2018)<\/a><\/strong> as a Corporate Partners last February in Delhi.<\/p>\n
